The Work from home Saga

Many people believe that remote work brings flexibility, and choice and saves cost on commute. As the Covid is slowing down than earlier I believe employers are starting hybrid works giving employees the “best of both the worlds” as they claim. Is the “Best of both the worlds” perceived best according to all the employees.

I understand that many employees even prefer office work so that they can focus on work alone if they are surrounded by kids but why do employees even have to be obligated to go as per what employer demands always. Why can't we have a democracy in the corporate workplace? Every employee’s life journey is different and so are the needs. When will our society progress that they can just let employees decide if employees want to work remotely or in-office or want to work from 9 to 5 pm or depends on tasks that are assigned? If employees are given flexibility then employers start getting demanding to contact them outside office hours and obligated to do the office work despite odd hours. Yes, flexibility is often flexibility both ways but usually, the flexibility is perceived that it is only from the employer's side except for a few big companies who may really follow what they claim.

I believe our society should change for good. Employees are not in school or colleges where they have to follow a norm. It is good to have discipline but forcing employees to leave the family life just to pay their bills is not something that should be entertained. I believe there needs to be a body which regulates this and all the employers have to follow and its high time Employees should not be considered corporate slaves as long as the work is getting completed and reports are being delivered accurately and timely. There should be no obligation on where one works and how one works.
