How to find the Job you like?
As a contractor and after temping with many Jobs I have slowly stepped up the ladder. Was it hard? It indeed was but it was worth it. Rome was not built in a day. Nor your career will be. It depends on what kind of job you would want to pick up. You would come across many people who would be younger than you and have done really well and are already higher on the ladder. Does that mean you are slow? Not at all, It only means that they had the right sources and right direction at the right time. what kind of job you do doesn't define you! What you have learnt by doing those Jobs is what defines you.
In order to find a job you like and would want to be with. It is very important to find out what you like. It is completely normal to keep figuring out what you want till maybe 20 years and more than that if you did not have any support or advice to guide you through. The first thing you should remember when you want to find a job is never ever feel like a loser. Remember every expert was once a beginner. Take things one at a time instead of keeping your hands in many things. I have seen many friends of mine who easily give up and put their hands in many things like if it doesn't work out, I will do another course. Things take time to click. Patience is very important to be successful. It is ok to be down and take a break but never ever quit. keep going even if it means taking small steps at a time. Once you have figured out what is your passion and prepare your inner self for the big battles. Look and think about what job will suit you and which one you would be happy with and what is your passion.
Discover your interests
You can go on LinkedIn, Google the profiles or go on youtube and watch their interviews if they are successful and what they think to be in that Job. How does it suit your lifestyle? For example, I was good at Mathematics and I enjoyed doing Math. I always wanted to be a mathematician but I didn't know what exactly I should do being a mathematician. It was not like I was as good as any mathematician but I enjoyed number crunching so I took up finance and accounts and became an accountant instead. I like when numbers match and balance. I feel it satisfies me. SO you can possibly look at something like that may be you like to speak so you should consider marketing or people management.
Job description
Once you are aware of your interests the next thing to do is look at the Job descriptions or profiles and look at how they achieved the degree for the job that interests you, for example, It also depends on the countries you want to apply for. Streamline the courses and research the budget. It is always better to get scholarships and fundings if possible and work towards it. Take up a small part-time job so you can sponsor the course and put your head down and work to achieve it.
Application
Once you achieved the courses you should realise that you will have to apply and attend interviews and again look for interviews and pattern of the questions that could be asked for the profile you are applying. This is the hardest part of one’s career to be able to handle the interviews with out experience. attend interviews even if you know they will not hire you as it will groom you to handle the questions. Confidence is the key. Employers look for confidence than experience show them how you think you can contribute and how you will work on improving the skills to be suitable for the Job.
Finally, Someone there will give you a chance. Pray for it. I have always seen prayers accelerate the process. The determination of yours will get an employer to give you a chance. take the Job learn and quit if you don't like even if the money is not what you thought is good. It is all about experience and growing and gathering the learning to succeed. Hope this helps.
